finally got around to downloading my guatemala pix. if you live in the house, i shared the folder, its under "guate" which was what you needed to listen for if you were taking a bus to guatemala city. anyway. have fun looking at those if you live here. if you don't, or if you do and want an explanation of what all of it is, wander on over and track me down. this week i'm kinda at work all the time, but next week i've got some free time. i'm down for sharing if i'm not working or sleeping.
when i downloaded, it said i had 140 pix. although when looking at them, it didn't seem to be that many. not about to count though. in retrospect, i wish i had taken more pix, however when i was in the city, which is when i would have liked to have taken a lot of pictures, i felt it unwise to whip out a camera and expose it to being stolen. if i had more time in the city, i may have gotten up the gaul. i really wanted to take some while on the "chicken bus", as they are called (a 5 quetzales ride/60 cent ride for an hour and a half adventure) but i've heard stories of people being robbed on these things, so i opted to keep it in my pocket.
i wanted to capture street life while walking around, but the streets were rather crowded and the sidewalks moreso, so the savvy/aware traveler that i am stuck to walking in the traffic rather than chancing the possible pickpocket. so again no pictures.
i wanted to get photos of campero, the guatemalan answer to US's KFC, which featured this almost big bird like chicken holding a plateful of his fried bretheren. also it was weird to see texaco gas stations with signs reading for prices of something like 18.50. however, i guess if bush continues his griphold, it might look something similar in the near future.
as for the photos i did take, i realize now that i need a bit more of a steady hand with some of them. others i think i need to learn how to focus on closeups, if its at all possible. i should have played around with the camera a bit more before leaving.
i'm computer illiterate so i can't tease/entice you by uploading any pictures as air has managed to do.
so you'll have to get off your ass and come on down if you're interested.
